Robert John Neuwirth (Bob Neuwirth) was an American folk singer, songwriter, record producer, and visual artist.

Neuwirth entered Bob Dylan’s orbit in the early 1960s and became a fixture of Dylan’s inner circle, working as his road manager during the infamous 1965 tour of England documented in D.A. Pennebaker’s Don’t Look Back.
Neuwirth was later a member of Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue band and crew in the mid-’70s.
In addition to co-writing Janis Joplin’s Pearl song “Mercedes Benz,” Neuwirth is credited as the person who introduced her to Kris Kristofferson’s “Me and Bobby McGee.”
Following his self-titled 1974 album on Asylum Records, Neuwirth released 1988’s Back to Front and a series of albums in the ’90s.
Neuwirth and John Cale collaborated on the 1994 album Last Day on Earth, which was followed by Neuwirth’s 1999 collaboration with José Maria Vitier, Havana Midnight.
Neuwirth also collaborated with Kris Kristofferson, Bobby Charles, Kinky Friedman, T Bone Burnett, Alejandro Escovedo, and more.

Neuwirth was born on June 20, 1939 and died on May 18, 2022, aged 82 of heart failure.
Is Bob Neuwirth Related To Bebe Neuwirth?

Despite having the same surnames, Bob is not related to American actress, singer, and dancer Bebe Neuwirth.
Bob’s father, Robert was employed as an engineer while his mother, Clara Irene (Fischer), worked as a design engineer.
On the other hand, Bebe’s father Lee Neuwirth was a mathematician who taught at Princeton University and also made an Encrypter while working at Institute for Defense Analyses.
Bebe’s mother Sydney Anne Neuwirth, is a painter who also danced as an amateur for the Princeton Regional Ballet Company.
Bebe has an older brother Peter, a mathematician and actuary who graduated from Harvard University.
