Rebecca Lucile Schaeffer was a model and actress from the United States. She started her career as a teen model before transitioning to acting. She was cast as Patricia “Patti” Russell in the CBS comedy My Sister Sam in 1986. She acted in various films after the series was terminated in 1988, including the black comedy Scenes from the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills.

Schaeffer was raised in the Jewish faith and attended Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon. She wanted to be a rabbi at first, but she started modelling during her junior year in high school.

She appeared in department store catalogues, television ads, and a television film as an extra. Her parents gave her permission to move to New York City on her own in August 1984 to seek a modelling career.

Rebecca Schaeffer is not alive. When she was just 21, she was shot and killed by Robert John Bardo, a 19-year-old obsessed fan who had been stalking her at her home in West Hollywood. Bardo stalked Schaeffer for three years before killing her. She was buried at Ahavai Sholom Cemetery in Portland.
