There are no indications that the Baby formula shortage would end soon inspite of the Abbott Nutrition plant settlement.

Abbott is set to open another major baby formula plant, but pending court approval.

While speaking about the situation, Maria Diaz, a neonatal nurse in Southern California, said, “I think it’s going to get worse because we use Abbott’s products”

Abbott has taken alternative steps to reduce the shortage, by air-shipping formula from a plant in Cootehill, Ireland, and making baby formula production top-most priority in other U.S. plants.

The company has also doubled the number and value of formula coupons for all its products, so that parents can make purchases either free or hugely discounted.

Abbott management also revealed that it is currently working with the USDA and its WIC agencies to provide bonuses on competitive products in states where Abbott holds an exclusive WIC contract.

President Biden has assured all households of the government’s effort to ensure that manufacturers increase production of formula.

Experts have advised that parents who can’t find their baby formular brand in the market, should switch to any F.D.A.-approved baby formula available at any reputable pharmacy or supermarket.
