Joshua David Shapiro is an American lawyer and politician. Shapiro is the current the Attorney General of Pennsylvania. He formerly served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and as chairman of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners as a member of the Democratic Party.

Joshua David Shapiro went to Akiba Hebrew Academy in Merion Station, Pennsylvania, which is now known as Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy. He majored in political science at the University of Rochester, and in 1992, he became the first freshman to be elected as the student body president of the university.

While working on Capitol Hill during the day, he enrolled as an evening student at Georgetown University Law Center and graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 2002.
He began his career as a legislative assistant to Senator Carl Levin, then moved on to Congressman Peter Deutsch and Senator Robert Torricelli as a senior adviser. He served as Congressman Joe Hoeffel’s chief of staff from 1999 to 2003.
