Kay Mellor Wiki: Who Is Kay Mellor?

Kay Mellor was an English actress, scriptwriter and director. She was known for creating the television show, Fat Friends from 2000 to 2005.

She wrote for the anthology drama series, Dramarama before co-creating the long-running children’s drama Children’s Ward with the Coronation Street colleague.

Kay was appointed officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2009 Birthday Honours and, in 2014, she was awarded the Writers Guild Award for Outstanding Contribution to Writing.

In 2017, Mellor turned Fat Friend into a stage musical with Nick Lloyd Webner writing the music.

Kay reportedly died on May 15, 2022, at age 71. The cause of her death is yet to be communicated by her family.
