In 2015, Caitlyn Jenner was involved in an accident while driving her SUV, which was towing an ATV, on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

She hit a Lexus from behind, driving it into vehicles going the opposite way. Kim Howe, the driver of the Lexus, was then hit by a Hummer going the other way.

Jenner continued driving and hit another vehicle, a Prius, whose driver sustained minor injuries. However, Howe was killed on the spot.

Jenner was remorseful about the incident. She settled with Howe’s family and Jessica Steindorff, who drove the Prius, for an undisclosed sum, as well as the family in the Hummer for $800,000.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office conducted their investigation and concluded on the possibility of vehicular manslaughter.

Eventually, the DA’s office didn’t continue with charges because there was an absence of proof.

In addition to an absence of proof, the DA’s report said Jenner let go of the gas pedal and connected with her brakes two or three seconds past the point of no return prior to hitting Howe.

The report says she violated no transit regulations, with the exception of driving below speed limit. They therefore withdrew the charges of vehicular manslaughter against her.
