Urvashi Vaid who is known as the leader of many LQBTQ+ and other social justice organisations died at age 63.

Urvashi died at her home in New York. This was confirmed by the National LGBTQ Task Force. Urvashi Vaid was executive director of the group, then known as the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force from 1989 to 1992.

Urvashi has previously battled thyroid cancer, stage III breast cancer and lung illness. The cause of her death is unknown yet as her family is yet to announce the circumstances that led to her death.
Prior to her death, she shared homes in Manhattan and Provincetown, Massachusetts with her partner, comedian Kate Clinton.
Vaid is also an aunt of Alok Vaid-Menon, a transgender activist and performer.
