Kate and Toby had a messy break up and decided to move on with their lives, hoping to find happiness again.

The couple have been married for a long time but their differences doesn’t seem to make things easy.

“Just because our marriage ends, it doesn’t mean that our story ends,” Kate said.

“We were meant to be together, and now we are meant to be apart.” Said Toby, “I promise you I’ll never see it.”

Kate and Toby’s relationship was an opportunity for them to rediscover themselves and grow.

On discovering that they have both outgrown their relationship, they decide to move on. Toby stays back in San Francisco, while Kate makes her way to L.A.

The Season 5 finale of This Is Us shows that Kate was going to marry her boss – Phillip.

On the day of Kate and Phillip’s wedding, Toby called Kate to tell her that he now understands that they were meant to be apart.
