It began on August 21, when deputies of the United States Marshals Service initiated action to arrest Randy Weaver after he fails to appear on firearms charges.

During the search, a shootout occurred killing Weaver’s 14-year-old son, his wife and his dog. Randy was later arrested and arraigned before court. He was charged with first-degree murder for the death of Degan. He was fined $10,000 and sentenced to 18 months in prison.

How much did Randy Weaver get?
Randy Weaver was acquitted of the most serious charge and Harris was acquitted of all charges. The surviving members of the Weaver family filed a wrongful death lawsuit.
The federal government awarded Randy Weaver a $100,000 settlement and his three daughters $1 million each in 1995.
