Notify the Necessary Parties. You’ll have to notify the appropriate people about the death. If possible, try to notify the following people in this order: All family members, Friends, Coworkers and Employer

Obtain Legal Death Documentation. The death certificate should be obtained as soon as possible after the death, usually within a few days. Accessing bank and other financial accounts, filing a claim on life insurance, and tending to other personal affairs will all require legal documentation of death.
