Graham Thorpe played for the England international cricket team and Surrey domestically. Thorpe played 100 Tests and scored 16 centuries before retiring in 2005, was regarded as one of the best English players of his generation.

Thorpe first played for Surrey in 1988, and then for England in 1993. In 1998, Thorpe was named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year. In his century against Pakistan in Lahore in November 2000, Thorpe only hit one four. There were also seven threes, 12 twos, and 51 singles in the mix. Before being dismissed for 118 from 301 balls, he hit another boundary.

Thorpe returned to the England team in the fifth Test against South Africa at The Oval in 2003, where he scored 124 points to help England win the game and force an unlikely series tie, and he was retained in the team.
In June 2005, he played his hundredth and final Test against Bangladesh; he scored 1635 Test runs at an average of 56.37 in the two years between his comeback and retirement.
