More bodies are likely to be discovered as the lake recedes, according to police.

According to investigators, the body discovered by boaters on May 1 belonged to a person who was fatally shot in the 1970s or 1980s. Lt Ray Spencer, a Las Vegas homicide detective, told local media that the timing was determined by the victim’s clothes and shoes, which were sold at Kmart stores at the time.

Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the United States, provides drinking water to 20 million people from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. Lake Mead levels have been declining since 2000, and droughts have become more severe in recent years, with scientists claiming that climate change is exacerbating the problem.
