Character actor Mike Hagerty, who appeared on The George Carlin Show, died at age 68. He was born In 1954.

Hagerty — known for his thick mustache, Chicagoan accent, and friendly smile — played Everett’s character Sam’s father in HBO’s Somebody Somewhere, which was renewed for a second season earlier this year.

With great sadness, the family of Michael G. Hagerty announced his death in Los Angeles,” she wrote alongside a carousel of pictures of the star. “A beloved character actor, his love of his hometown of Chicago and his family were the cornerstones of his life.”

Everett, 50, called Hagerty “a devoted husband” and noted that he “is survived by his wife Mary Kathryn, his sister Mary Ann Hagerty, her wife Kathleen O’Rourke, and their daughter Meg.”

“He will be sorely missed,” his costar added.

Over the course of his career, Hagerty appeared in many movies and numerous television series, including, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Cheers, Community, CSI, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, Glee, Grey’s Anatomy, Shameless, Seinfield and many others.

Hagerty also appeared in a slew of films from 1983 to 2020, including Brewster’s Millions, So I Married an Axe Murderer, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Inspector Gadget, Rampage: The Hillside Strangler Murders, and Thin Ice. He was also a recurring character on Lucky Louie.
