Does Donatella own Versace?

Donatella Versace does not own Versace. Michael Kors is the owner of Versace. Donatella sold the company to Capri Holdings Michael Kors in 2018 but remained its chief creative officer.  Donatella stated that she sold the company for it to reach its full potential.

Donatella Francesca Versace is a fashion designer, businesswoman, socialite, and model from Italy. She is Gianni Versace’s sister, and she inherited a portion of the luxury fashion company Versace after her brother died in 1997.

Donatella Versace held her first haute couture show for the Versace Atelier at the Hôtel Ritz Paris on July 18, 1998, one year and three days after Gianni’s death. She constructed her runway over the hotel’s swimming pool, as her brother had done every season, but this time she used sheer glass.

Gianni and Donatella Versace’s most famous Versace clothing was featured in a special exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London from October 2002 to January 2003. Her first years as CEO were difficult until she defined a new feminist proposition for the brand in 2005.
