What happens in the Met Gala?

The Met Costume Institute Gala is a well-known fundraising event that serves as the kick-off event for the Institute’s annual fashion exhibit. Following the event, the exhibition will be on display for several months.

The event, which attracts celebrities from the arts, fashion, high society, film, and music, has been held at the Met since 1948 and is regarded as the fashion industry’s premier annual red carpet event.

Its red carpet looks are widely photographed, reviewed, critiqued, and copied. Due to the Gala, the museum will be closed to the general public on the first Monday of May.

Following the red carpet, celebs and guests mingle during a cocktail hour before touring the exhibition, which this year is titled In America: An Anthology of Fashion. It will be open to the public on May 5, 2022.

After viewing the exhibits, celebs sit down for a formal dinner, complete with assigned seating. It is a night of fashion for celebrities to play dress up, mingle and have fun.
