According to the Jewish Press, during the family’s trip to the Golan Heights, one of the children discovered and took a bombshell that they intended to take home as a souvenir. When it was discovered at the airport’s luggage check-in, security requested that the area be evacuated.
The airport authority stated that the family was allowed to board their flight following interrogation by security personnel who issued an all-clear.
During the 1967 and 1973 wars, Israel, which has strict aviation security, clashed with Syria over the Golan Heights.
