A consortium headed by American businessman Todd Boehly are set to be confirmed as the preferred bidder to buy Chelsea from sanctioned Russian Oligarch Roman Abramovich.

Todd Boehly’s consortium includes Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss, American PR executive Barbara Charone, British businessman Jonathan Goldstein and British journalist Daniel Finkelstein.
Other consortiums who have been in the running to buy Chelsea have been headed by Sir Martin Broughton and the co-owner of the Boston Celtics, Stephen Pagliuca.
But Pagliuca was informed on Friday (April 29, 2022) afternoon that his bid to buy the Blues has been unsuccessful.

Todd Boehly is no stranger to the sporting world, as he owns stakes in US baseball franchise the LA Dodgers, US women’s basketball team Los Angeles Sparks as well as the LA Lakers.
Todd Boehly is keen to expand his sports portfolio and this will be his second attempt at buying Chelsea as it was reported that he made a £2.4 billion bid to buy Chelsea in 2019 which was rejected by Roman Abramovich.
Todd Boehly has a reported net worth of £4.72 billion.
