Evan Neal turned in a 4.66 40-yard dash, a 32-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-8 broad jump.

All Neal has to do is run out the clock on the draft process, and his pot of gold will be waiting. Impressive combine testing can merely validate his draft standing; it can’t do much to improve it.

The combine’s days as a showcase for the elite are phasing out. It’s now more about the underdog.

Arguably the best player on the roster this season projects to be starting tackle, Evan Neal. After starting every game at right tackle last fall, Neal is expected to shift over to left tackle and will likely be the next Crimson Tide lineman to go in the top 10 of an NFL Draft, provided he continues to progress on the field.
