Konstantin Yaroshenko is a Russian pilot who was sentenced to 20 years in a United States jail in 2011 and is going home, Russia’s foreign ministry has announced.

Yaroshenko is being exchanged for an American prisoner, former US marine Trevor Reed, who has been detained in Russia since 2019. The swap is a result of a lengthy negotiation process.

He was convicted of conspiracy in a drug-smuggling plot and was arrested in Liberia in May 2010 and brought to the US.
In April 2011, Konstantin Yaroshenko was sentenced to 20 years in prison for conspiring to import more than $100 million worth of cocaine into US.
Konstantin Yaroshenko is being exchanged for Reed who received a nine-year sentence for assault after a drunken night out in Moscow.
