Gangubai Kathiawadi died of a cardiac arrest in her Kamathipura home in 2008, almost 5 decades after arriving in Mumbai. Gangubai passed away at the age of 68.

Gangubai was one of the most well-known names in Mumbai’s largest red-light district, known as ‘Kamathipura,’ according to the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. Her customers included a lot of mafia figures. Many young females who had fled their homes to work in films and become trapped in prostitution were advised and sent back by Gangubai.

The life of Gangubai was chronicled in the 2011 book “Mafia Queens of Mumbai.” Hussain Zaidi, a writer and journalist, penned the book. Gangubai and Ramnik Lal are thought to have married and relocated to Mumbai.

Ramnik, on the other hand, duped Gangubai and sold her to a brothel. Gangubai’s life was destroyed, but her new life began. She became a prostitute and lived in Mumbai’s red-light district.
