Donald Trump made history when he became the first president in US history to be impeached by the House of Representatives twice. However, while losing to Joe Biden in November 2020 may have harmed the one-term president’s pride and fueled 18 months of lies about rigged ballot boxes, it now appears almost certain that Mr Trump will run for President again in 2024.

Mr Trump has returned to the campaign trail this year in preparation for the midterm elections. He’s been holding MAGA rallies in state after state with candidates he’s endorsed, telling crowds that he didn’t legitimately lose to Mr Biden and implying that he plans to avenge his defeat by running for office again.

While the presidential election in 2024 is still more than two years away, Mr Trump appears to be on track to win his party’s nomination if he decides to run again.
In a March poll, 56% of Republican voters said they would vote for him in a hypothetical 2024 presidential primary, according to a Morning Consult/Politico poll. This is the former president’s highest level of support in seven polls conducted since November 2020.
