Rolling Stone has obtained previously unreleased security footage from DaBaby’s 2018 shooting, which resulted in the death of 19-year-old Jaylin Craig. The footage appears to disprove DaBaby’s initial claim of self-defence.

DaBaby appears to be approached by two people – Jaylin Craig and Henry Douglas – in the video, which has no sound. Following his hit on Douglas, the two engage in a violent struggle, with Craig brandishing a firearm.
They both struggle against each other during the altercation, with Craig reaching for a weapon a second time before attempting to separate the rapper and Craig.

Before the two scuffles, DaBaby’s then-girlfriend Mariah Osbourne confronts Craig, raising her right hand to his face.

The video then returns to its original perspective, revealing DaBaby slithering into the frame with a pistol in his right hand. He then appears to shoot at Craig, who is not visible in the video at the time.
The rapper was never charged with Craig’s death after the incident, instead of being charged with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.
According to Rolling Stone, the charges were dropped because “a key civilian witness was unavailable.” The state of North Carolina later dismissed the charges against him, and the rapper was sentenced to 12 months of unsupervised probation and a suspended 30-day jail sentence.
