Fisayo Akinade plays the role of Fisayo Akinade in Heartstopper. He is a British-Nigerian actor. He is known for his role as Dean in Cucumber and Banana on Channel 4 in addition to his theatre work.

He wanted to be a gymnast growing up but after an injury, his dream to become a gymnast was cut short.

Akinade’s television breakthrough came in 2015, when he started as Dean Monroe in Russell T Davies’ drama, Cucumber and their offshoots, Banana and Tofu.

In 2016, Akinade starred alongside Glenn Close, Gemma Arterton and Paddy Considine in The Girl with All the Gifts.

In February 2022, Akinade starred in The Glow. The play was performed at Royal Court Theatre Downstairs.
