Queen-mother, Abibat Adeyemi is the first wife of Alaafin of Oyo. She has remained strong as the wife of Alaafin of Oyo for over 60 years of marriage.

As the first wife, she played many traditional roles in the palace. She has also been described by many as a woman with a large heart and quality character. She is loving, warm and accomodating.

Alaafin reportedly met and married Ayaba Abibat when she was in secondary school, at age 17. Their meeting was said to be through Alaafin’s late younger sister who was attending the same school with Ayaba sometime in 1956.

They lived together and had five children together. Two boys and three girls.
