Murray met his second wife, Jennifer Butler, years before his first marriage when she worked as a costume designer on the set of the 1988 film Scrooged. After Murray’s divorce, they reconnected and married in 1997.

During their ten-year marriage, Murray appeared in some of his most critically acclaimed films, including Lost in Translation, for which he received an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. Murray and Jennifer, meanwhile, welcomed four children into the world: Caleb, Jackson, Cooper, and Lincoln.

Jennifer filed for divorce in 2008, citing Murray’s drug addiction, physical abuse, adultery, and abandonment. Jennifer also requested a restraining order against her husband in addition to the divorce. Murray’s now ex-wife stated that she felt compelled to relocate her children due to her husband’s addiction to sex, marijuana, and alcohol.
Jennifer Butler Murray costume designer, Levi’s overalls collector, former Ms Red Hot Chili Pepper, and Bill Murray’s ex-wife died suddenly on January 19 at the age of 57. Her cause of death was never revealed.
