In 1994, the remaining members of the Hi-Five disbanded. Thompson attempted a comeback in 2005 with a new Hi-Five, but three original members sued him for using the Hi-Five name.

When Thompson died in Waco from freon inhalation two years later, Irby and Sanders were working on putting Hi-Five back together.
