Anne Kirkbride cause of death

Anne Kirkbride died of breast cancer that had spread to her brain on January 19, 2015, at a Manchester hospital. Her funeral was held in a private ceremony on January 27, 2015. A public memorial service for Kirkbride was held at Manchester Cathedral on 30 May 2015.

Kirkbride was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 1993. She opened up to the British press about her post-diagnosis depression. Within a year of being diagnosed, she was cured.

Anne Kirkbride was an English actress best known for her 42-year role as Deirdre Barlow in the ITV series Coronation Street from 1972 to 2014. She got the Outstanding Achievement Award for this performance posthumously at the 2015 British Soap Awards.

Anne Kirkbride was born in Oldham, Lancashire, the daughter of cartoonist Jack Kirkbride of the Oldham Evening Chronicle. She attended Counthill Grammar School in Oldham before working as an assistant stage manager at Oldham Repertory Theatre before moving on to professional roles. She married former actor David Beckett in 1992.
