Why did Jennifer GREY do surgery?

Jennifer Grey underwent two rhinoplasty surgeries after achieving worldwide fame in the 1987 box-office smash in which she played Baby Houseman – but her new look rendered her unrecognisable, with the actress now admitting that it resulted in her “losing her identity and her career overnight.”

Grey admitted that going under the knife was originally the idea of her mother, actress Jo Wilder.

“I was so angry with my mum for constantly telling me I should do my nose,” she told People in an April 18 interview. “I mistook it for defeat and assumed it meant surrendering to the enemy camp. I just thought to myself, ‘I’m good enough.’ This is something I shouldn’t have to do.’ That’s exactly how I felt. ‘I’m pretty enough,’ she says.”

The actress said she had heard the suggestion since she was a child, saying that her mother was trying to be “pragmatic” and make it easier for her to be cast in films.

The purpose of the second surgery was to repair an irregularity caused by the first, but it left her nose “truncated” and “dwarfed.”
