Lonzo Anderson Ball was born on October 27, 1997, in Anaheim, California, the United States to his parents LaVar and Tina Ball. Both his parents are former college basketball players. His father LaVar Ball played at Washington State and Cal State Los Angeles, where Tina Ball has also played for four years.

Lonzo Ball’s father LaVar was a professional American footballer for the London Monarchs in the World League of American Football. He also played for the practice squads of the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers.

Lonzo Ball was raised alongside his siblings LaMelo Ball and LiAngelo Ball. He went to high school at Chino Hills High School in 2016, where he was awarded multiple national high school player of the year honours. He was ranked No. 4 overall in the 2016 class by both Rivals.com and ESPN.
