Over the last few months, there has been a lot of talk surrounding Billy Beane’s future with the Oakland Athletics.

When his sports investment organization was slated to merge with the investment group operated by the Red Sox’s owners, he appeared to be on his way out, as no one can possess stakes in two teams.

However, the proposed merger did not go through, allowing Beane to stay in Oakland.

Beane’s name had also come up in trade rumors earlier this offseason. He was rumored to be one of the Mets’ top front-office targets, but he dropped out of consideration without even interviewing for the job.
What percentage of the Oakland A’s does Billy Beane own?
Beane has a 4% ownership position in the Athletics, and Steve Cohen may have to agree to a similar deal with the Mets, which could be difficult.
Beane, on the other hand, has a good relationship with Mets president Sandy Alderson, and the two might reconnect in New York.
