Walgreens Company is an American company that operates the second-largest pharmacy store chain in the United States behind CVS Health.

Walgreens specializes in filling prescriptions, health and wellness products, health information, and photo services.
Walgreens was founded in Chicago, Illinois, in 1901, and is headquartered in the Chicago suburb of Deerfield, Illinois.
In November 2010, Walgreens filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against the Wegmans supermarket chain, claiming the “W” in the Wegman’s logo is too similar to Walgreens’.
The lawsuit was settled in April 2011, with Wegmans agreeing to discontinue use of its “W” logo by June 2012, although the supermarket retained the right to use the “Wegmans” name in script.
According to Jo Natale, Wegmans director of media relations, “The cost of making relatively minor changes to a limited number of products was much less than the cost of litigating this case to the end.”

On December 31, 2014, Walgreens and Switzerland-based Alliance Boots merged to form a new holding company, Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. Walgreens became a subsidiary of the new company, which retained its Deerfield headquarters and trades on the Nasdaq under the symbol WBA.

What time does Walgreens open?
Most Walgreens locations, including 24-hour stores, are open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. (local times) during weekdays until further notice; the change in opening and closing times were instituted in 2020.
These store hours also applied to weekends, while pharmacy hours on weekends largely remained the same.
For Walgreens locations with a 24-hour drive-thru pharmacy, while the front of store will close at 9 p.m., the pharmacy drive-thru will remain open, as it always has, for 24 hours to assist customers and patients with their prescriptions.
