Good Friday is a holiday for the stock market, which is always closed on weekends. The Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) will be closed on that day.

The U.S. stock exchanges closed a day early, ending the trading week at the closing bell Thursday, known as Holy Thursday (or Maundy Thursday).

Good Friday is usually the Friday before Easter Sunday, and in 2022 it will happen on April 15th. Easter Monday is the day after Easter Sunday, which is a national holiday in many nations but not in the United States.

Good Friday and Easter Sunday, unlike Christmas and Thanksgiving, are not government holidays. Most non-essential government offices close on federal holidays, and many federal employees are entitled to paid vacation time.

Despite this, many banks, schools, and post offices around the country will have different hours or close their doors on Easter Sunday. In 12 states, Good Friday is also a state holiday, which means that many courts and other government offices will be closed.
