Doris Day Cause Of Death

Doris Day, the freckle-faced movie actress whose irrepressible personality and golden voice made her America’s top box-office star in the early 1960s, died of pneumonia at her Carmel Valley, Calif., home in 2019. She was 97 years old at the time.

Her death was announced by her charity, the Doris Day Animal Foundation. Per Day’s requests, the Foundation announced that there would be no funeral services, grave markers, or other public memorials.

Doris Day was an actress, singer, and animal rights activist from the United States. She began her career as a big band vocalist in 1939, and with Les Brown & His Band of Renown, she achieved commercial success in 1945 with two No. 1 albums, “Sentimental Journey” and “My Dreams Are Getting Better All The Time.” She left Brown to pursue a solo career, recording over 650 songs between 1947 and 1967.

Day was a big movie star in the 1950s and 1960s. Day’s cinematic career began with the picture Romance on the High Seas, which was released during the Golden Age of Hollywood (1948). She appeared in musicals, comedies, dramas, and thrillers, among other genres.
