Jade Goody, a reality television personality who was diagnosed with cervical cancer died in 2009.

The 27-year-old was diagnosed with cancer in August while competing on Bigg Boss, India’s version of Big Brother, and died in her sleep at her house in Upshire, Sussex, at 3.14 a.m., according to Max Clifford.

Goody’s bravery and the way she spread cancer awareness were lauded by the prime minister, who led tributes to her.

Goody’s mother, Jackiey Budden, and husband, Jack Tweed, were by her side when she died, according to Clifford. Kevin Adams, a family acquaintance, was also present. “My darling daughter is at peace,” Budden told Clifford over the phone.

David Cameron, the Conservative Party’s leader, said: “Her legacy will be to save the lives of future generations of young women. At this difficult time, my sympathies are with her family, particularly her two young sons.”

Within minutes of the news breaking, mourners began gathering at Goody’s home to pay their respects.
