After his elderly father was discovered dead inside a property in Melbourne’s east, a man has been charged with murder. When police arrived at a property in Nardu Court, Scoresby, at about 11.30 pm yesterday, they discovered the body of 78-year-old Bill Matthews.

There had been complaints of concern for the safety of two persons inside the house.
James Matthews, his 30-year-old son, was charged with one count of murder this afternoon.

After his father’s body was discovered, James was apprehended by the critical incident response team.
“There was a lot of yelling and windows crashing,” neighbours told 9News.
Bill Matthews, who lived alone, was a retired antique merchant and football fanatic who had lung cancer, according to authorities.
