Born in Jerusalem, Palestine on August 2, 1919, Nehemiah Persoff emigrated with his family to the United States in 1929.
He graduated from the Hebrew Technical Institute in 1937.
Persoff was drafted by the United States Army in 1942 and served amid World War II until 1945.
He began his acting career in 1948 and has since starred in more than 200 television series, films, and plays in a career spanning over 50 years, following World War II.
Persoff retired from acting in 1999 and pursued painting, specialising in watercolours.
In the years leading up to his death, Nehemiah had many health issues, including suffering a stroke.

The Twilight Zone actor Nehemiah Persoff died on April 5, 2022, aged 102 at a rehab facility in San Luis Obispo, California.
