June Brown is no more on the show EastEnders since she passed. June Brown played Dot until she was 93 years old. She took a break from the BBC show between 1993 and 1997 before returning in 2020.

One of the original cast members, Leslie Grantham, who portrayed Den Watts, recommended Brown for the role of Dot Cotton in EastEnders. Brown portrayed the character from 1985 until 2020, with a brief hiatus between 1993 and 1997.
Brown stated on April 30, 2012, that she would be taking a six-month vacation from EastEnders to write her memoirs during her time off. She announced her return to filming in October 2012, and she first appeared on screen in January 2013. Before the Year Dot, her autobiography was released in 2013.

Brown disclosed in May 2015 that she was suffering from macular degeneration, which was causing her vision to deteriorate.
Brown revealed in April 2019 that her condition has worsened since she had surgery in 2017 and that she didn’t go out socially because of her vision: “I no longer attend soap awards or similar events. People I know would believe I was snubbing them if I didn’t recognize them.”
Brown announced her departure from EastEnders on February 20, 2020.
