The majority of Jerrod Carmichael’s Saturday Night Live opening monologue was devoted to mocking Will Smith for slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars.

“I’m not going to talk about it,” the 34-year-old actor said at the beginning of Saturday night’s SNL, referring to his fresh new HBO comedy special Rothaniel.

“I’ma be clear up top,” Jerrod said, referring to Smith’s infamous Oscar slap. I’ve said enough about it. I couldn’t stop talking about it. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I don’t want to talk about it, and you can’t force me to.”

“It’s been six days, can you believe it?” “It’ll be six days,” he said. “It was a week ago when this happened. Isn’t it as if this happened years ago? Isn’t it as if that happened back when we were all in high school?”

Soon after his monologue, Carmichael and Chris Redd performed a seat-filler piece in which they re-enacted Smith’s slap from the audience’s perspective.
