Throughout his career he made many moves joining Manchester United, Rangers, and Crystal Palace to name a few. He helped the Red Devils lift the FA Cup trophy in the 1982-83 season and the FA Charity Shield.

Why was Wilkins called Butch?

Ray Wilkins was referred to him as ‘Butch’ – a nickname given to him during his playing days at Chelsea. Wilkins was then given his nickname ‘Butch’ in regards to his not-so butch dress sense, as he often appeared in flamboyant clothing and outfits.

Why was Ray Wilkins called the Crab?

Ray Wilkins had another nickname during his playing time. The nickname “The Crab” was given to Wilkins by his manager, Ron Atkinson, because of his alleged penchant for unambitious sideways passing.
