Patrick Kielty is a Northern Irish comedian and television personality.

Patrick Kielty began performing regularly while a pupil at St Patrick’s Grammar School, Downpatrick.

Patrick Kielty was persuaded to take part by a Games master who spotted his impersonations of local politicians, celebrities, and sportsmen.

However, his professional career started while he was still a psychology student at Queen’s University, Belfast, appearing in a show called “The Empire Laughs Back”, a show staged in The Empire Music Hall on Botanic Avenue in Belfast, started by him and fellow student Jackie Hamilton, who went on to become a BBC producer.

In 2018, Kielty presented a documentary, My Dad, the Peace Deal and Me for BBC Two and in 2021, he also took part in the RTÉ series All the Walks of Life, where he talked about his childhood and the values he holds. He appeared in the film Ballywalter, playing Shane, a stand-up comic.

Patrick Kielty is married to Cat Deeley, an English television presenter and actress.

From 1998 to 2002, Cat Deeley hosted the ITV children’s show SMTV Live, for which she won a BAFTA Children’s Award in 2001, and its spin-off chart show CD:UK.
