Hope Amelia Solo was born on July 30, 1981, in Richland, Washington, the United States to parents Jeffrey Solo and Judy Lynn Shaw. She was raised alongside her siblings Teresa Obert and Marcus Solo.
Hope Solo’s father Jeffrey was an Italian-American Vietnam War veteran. She attended the University of Washington from 1999 to 2002 where she majored in speech communications and was a college football star. She later played professionally for the Philadelphia Charge in the Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA).
Hope Solo was a goalkeeper for the United States women’s national soccer team from 2000 to 2016 and is a World Cup champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist. Solo received the Golden Glove award for best goalkeeper as well as the Bronze Ball award for her overall performance at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Hope Solo has been considered one of the top female goalkeepers of all time. As of now, she holds the U.S. record for most career clean sheets. She received her second Olympic gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics.
Hope Solo has also published her bestselling autobiography titled Solo: A Memoir of Hope. She is the mother of her two children Lozen Orianna Judith Stevens and Vittorio Genghis Steven.
