DeMar Darnell DeRozan was born on August 7, 1989, in Compton, California, the United States to his parents Frank DeRozan and Diane DeRozan. He was raised alongside his brother Jermaine DeRozan.

DeMar DeRozan was schooled at Compton High School. He was ranked No. 3 in the nation by Rivals.com as well as No. 6 by Scout.com. He played college basketball for the USC Trojans and was selected ninth overall by the Toronto Raptors in the 2009 NBA draft.

DeMar DeRozan has spent nine seasons with the Raptors, however, he was later traded to the Spurs in the summer of 2018 as well as the Bulls in 2021. He is a five-time NBA All-Star and a two-time All-NBA Team member.
