Clark Gable Death Cause: What happened to Clark Gable?

Clark Gable died at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital at 11 p.m. on Wednesday. The 59-year-old actor had been hospitalized since Nov. 6, when he suffered a heart attack.

According to B.J. Caldwell, hospital administrator, the actor died as a result of another heart attack. “He appeared to be doing well,” Caldwell said. “He was sitting up, then he rested his head on the pillow, and that was the end of it.”

A private duty nurse was the only other person in the room when he died. Dr Fred Cerini, Gable’s physician, arrived “in a matter of minutes,” but it was too late to do anything, according to Caldwell.

Kay Gable, the actor’s wife, was asleep across the hall when he died. She has been in the hospital since her husband became ill, and they had eaten dinner together just a few hours before.

Gable was the undisputed “king” of Hollywood for many years and one of its highest-paid stars. Gable, a native of Cadiz, Ohio, got his start in movies after a stint as a roustabout in the Texas and Oklahoma oilfields.
