E3 (short for Electronic Entertainment Expo or Electronic Entertainment Experience) is a video game industry trade show. The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) organizes and hosts E3, which is used by many game developers, publishers, hardware and accessory manufacturers to introduce and advertise upcoming games and game-related merchandise to retailers and members of the press.

E3 includes an exhibition floor where developers, publishers, and manufacturers can showcase their upcoming titles and products for sale. Publishers and hardware manufacturers typically hold press conferences before and during the event to announce new games and products.
Over time, E3 has come to be regarded as the most important and influential gaming expo of the year.
There will be no E3 in 2022. With the cancellation, 2022 will be only the second year in over two and a half decades that an E3 will not take place. The other year without an E3 was 2020 when the event was cancelled due to lockdowns at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.
