How Did David Rocastle Die?

Rocastle announced in February 2001 that he had been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma an aggressive form of cancer that attacks the immune system, the previous October. He underwent chemotherapy and was optimistic about his chances of recovery. He died on March 31, 2001, at the age of 33.

Rocastle was survived by his wife and children. Many years later, it was revealed that Rocastle’s cancer had been declared terminal from the time of his diagnosis in October 2000.

David Carlyle Rocastle was an English professional footballer who played as a playmaker and winger.

He spent the majority of his career at Arsenal, where he earned the nickname “Rocky.” Rocastle went on to play in the Premier League for Leeds United, Manchester City, and Chelsea, as well as in the Football League for Norwich City and Hull City, before finishing his career in Malaysia with Sabah FA.

Rocastle also represented England at the international level, earning 14 caps for the Three Lions.
