According to his death certificate acquired by TMZ, Sean Connery died in his sleep from heart failure caused by pneumonia and old age.

According to the documents, the renowned James Bond actor died of pneumonia, old age, and atrial fibrillation – an abnormal and often rapid heartbeat that can cause poor blood flow.
Connery died on Oct. 31 at his Bahamas residence. He was 90 years old. Roquebrune, who was present when Connery died in his sleep at his house in Lyford Cay, Bahamas, said that the actor would be cremated at a private service on the Caribbean island.

Connery’s acting career spanned seven decades, and he won an Oscar for his performance in The Untouchables in 1988. He made his debut as James Bond in Dr No in 1962 and went on to act in five subsequent official films as well as the unofficial Never Say Never Again in 1983.
He was widely regarded as the best actor to have played James Bond in the long-running franchise, frequently being named as such in polls.
Other films by Sir Sean include The Hunt for Red October, Highlander, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and The Rock.
