Over the last three decades, Diane Warren has composed more than a dozen songs that have received Oscar nominations. Despite being nominated for an Academy Award 13 times since 1988, she has never won one, making her the most-nominated woman without one.

This year, she is nominated for her 13th Grammy for the song “Somehow You Do,” from the film “Four Good Days.” As part of The “Big Picture” series,
Warren told The Daily Beast that she stayed up all night to hear the Oscar nominations for this year. “It was one of the happiest moments of my life,” she stated as the broadcasters read out her name for Best Original Song.

Marilyn Bergman, who got 15 nominations alongside her husband Alan, is the only woman who has been nominated for Best Song more times than Warren.
In the Best Song category at this year’s Academy Awards, Warren will compete alongside Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Van Morrison, and Lin-Manuel Miranda. “I’ll never not think that’s the coolest thing in the world,” the songwriter told the Daily Beast of being nominated for an Oscar not once, but 13 times:
