Robin Gayle Wright was born on April 8, 1966, in Dallas, Texas, the United States to Gayle Wright Gaston) a cosmetics saleswoman for Mary Kay, as well as his father Fred Wright who worked as a pharmaceutical company employee.
Robin Wright was raised alongside an elder brother, Richard Wright who works as a photographer. Robin Wright was brought up in Southern California and had schooled at La Jolla High School in La Jolla and Taft High School in Los Angeles.
Robin Wright started her career as a model at the age of 14. She initially garnered attention at the age of 18 when she took on the role of Kelly Capwell in the NBC Daytime soap opera Santa Barbara from 1984 to 1988.

Robin Wright has made appearances in films including Forrest Gump (1994), Message in a Bottle (1999), Unbreakable (2000), The Conspirator (2010), Moneyball (2011), The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), Everest (2015), Wonder Woman (2017), and Blade Runner 2049 (2017).
Robin Wright has won a Golden Globe Award and a Satellite Award and has also received eleven Emmy Award nominations. She became the first actress to win a Golden Globe for a streaming television series in 2013 when she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her performance in the Netflix political drama streaming television series House of Cards.

Aside from the Golden Globe, Robin Wright has also received six Primetime Emmy Award nominations in the Outstanding Lead Actress category for House of Cards (one for each season), as well as two nominations in the Outstanding Drama Series category in 2016 and 2017 as a producer on the show.
