Mother Angelica also experienced a condition called “stigmata” where bleeding on the body occurs corresponding with the wounds Jesus suffered on the cross. Rhoda said Jesus and St. Theresa visited and healed her.

Mother Angelica suffered pain most of her life after an accident as a young girl when she fell using an industrial waxing machine that left her in leg braces.

She had a stroke in 2001 that prompted her to wear an eye patch over her left eye as she hosted her TV talk show.
