Oliver Taylor Hawkins was an American musician, widely known as the drummer for the rock band Foo Fighters, with whom he recorded eight studio albums.

Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins died at 50. The long-time drummer for the mega-platinum band has died.

In an online post late Friday, the band led by Dave Grohl did not release a cause but called Hawkins’ passing a “tragic and untimely loss.

He was 50 and died in Bogota, Colombia, where the group was scheduled to perform. Hawkins’ death was confirmed by the band in an online post late Friday night.

He was reportedly found unresponsive in his hotel room at the Casa Medina hotel in Bogotá, Colombia. The cause of death is unconfirmed.

Drug-related overdose suspected

Hawkins overdosed on heroin in August 2001, which left him in a coma for two weeks. Since this once happened, it is suspected that he overdosed again leading to his death.
